Power Bank Catches Fire on Board Dimapur-Bound IndiGo Plane at Delhi Airport; All Passengers Safe

New Delhi: Sources said that a passenger’s power bank on a Dimapur-bound IndiGo flight caught fire while taxiing at the Delhi airport on Sunday and it was extinguished by the cabin crew of the plane. IndiGo said no injuries were reported in the incident and all passengers and crew on board were safe.
The airline said in a statement that flight 6E 2107 from Delhi to Dimapur, Nagaland, on October 19, returned to the bay due to a small fire triggered by the passenger’s personal electronic equipment stored in the seatback pocket.
Sources said a power bank caught fire while the plane was taxiing at the airport.
“The crew quickly managed the situation by diligently following standard operating procedure and the incident was brought under control within seconds,” the statement said.
According to the information on the flight tracking site Flightradar24.com, flight AI2107, an Airbus A320 neo aircraft, took off from Delhi Airport at 14.33 and landed in Dimapur (Nagaland) at 16.45. The flight was scheduled to take off from Delhi airport at 12.25 pm.
Stating that the relevant authorities were immediately informed in line with the determined protocol, IndiGo stated that the aircraft was ready for operation after all necessary checks.
“We thank our valued customers for remaining calm and cooperative during this incident. Our teams made every possible effort to minimize any inconvenience, including offering refreshments to passengers,” the airline said. he said.

Earlier this week, a lithium battery in the overhead compartment of an Air China plane caught fire. According to reports, the plane was flying from Hangzhou to Seoul.
