For much of the game, it felt like the Giants had the Broncos figured out. The front seven constantly put their hands up to block Nix’s passes. The highly praised defense was making stupid mistakes that led to New York jumping out to a huge lead.

The fourth quarter turned the game completely around.

Nix began the fourth quarter by finishing an eight-play, 78-yard touchdown drive that led to a Tony Franklin touchdown pass on a slant pass. The Giants responded with a Jaxson Dart goal after Theo Johnson caught the ball bouncing off Wan’Dale Robinson’s hand.

But Nix followed up with a 13-play, 74-yard drive that culminated in a rushing touchdown by Nix. Denver was down 10 points with 5:13 left in the game. The Broncos needed to force the defense into mistakes, and they got what they wanted. Justin Strnad stopped Dart and put Denver back in scoring position.

Four plays later, Nix found RJ Harvey for a 2-yard touchdown pass to cut the deficit to three points. The Broncos forced the Giants to score three points, which would lead to Nix kicking an 18-yard field goal to take the lead.

The Darts responded with a seven-play, 65-yard drive that ended with a touchdown at the goal line. He implored his teammates to win the game, but the Giants’ defense failed to make any defensive stops.

Nix, Marvin Mims Jr. and enabled Courtland Sutton to quickly move the ball up the field. He was able to set up Will Lutz’s game-winning 39-yard field goal.

It was truly a miracle at Mile High.

Nix was 27/50 with 279 passing yards, two touchdown passes and two rushing touchdowns. Sutton finished with six catches for 87 yards. Mims had six catches for 85 yards.

Darts was 15/33 for 283 passing yards, three touchdown passes and a rushing touchdown. The Broncos’ defense mostly kept him from leaving the pocket. Losing was more demoralizing than being held to just 11 yards.
