Trump humiliated as Iran snubs US president’s invite and tells him to ‘keep dreaming’ | World | News

Iran tells Donald Trump to “keep dreaming” as Tehran denies destroying its nuclear program and rejects new talks with the US. Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, criticized America’s “interventions” and Mr. Trump’s comments.

Addressing the Israeli parliament last week, the US president called on Israel and Iran to strike a peace deal and claimed Tehran had suffered a “major blow” during the 12-day war in June. Washington was trying to broker a new nuclear deal with Tehran before American forces joined Israel in striking Iran’s nuclear facilities. Khamenei said: “Trump says he is a dealmaker, but if an agreement is accompanied by coercion and its outcome is predetermined, it is not an agreement, but imposition and tyranny.”

Mr Trump said in his speech to the Knesset: “They [Iran] He was shot from one side and the other.

“Well, you know what, it would be great if we could make a peace agreement with them, which I think is a big thing.

“Would you be happy with that? Wouldn’t it be nice? Don’t you think? Because I think they want it. I think they’re tired.”

He made this speech on the day the last living Israeli hostages and Palestinian detainees were released under the US-brokered ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.

Mr. Trump repeated his claim that Iran’s nuclear facilities had been “destroyed”; however, the Pentagon’s initial intelligence assessments refuted this claim.

According to Iranian state media, Mr. Khamenei added: “The US president proudly says that they bombed and destroyed Iran’s nuclear industry. Well, keep dreaming!

“What does Iran’s nuclear facilities or not have to do with America? These interventions are inappropriate, wrong and coercive.”

The United States and Israel claimed that Iran was close to obtaining atomic weapons.

This has been denied by Tehran, which insists its nuclear program is peaceful.

Mr. Trump hailed the “historic dawn of a new Middle East” in his speech to the Knesset on Oct. 13.

Speaking to Fox News’ Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo, Trump said Iran was “no longer the bully” of the region following U.S. strikes in the summer.
