Seth Rollins injury forces WWE title to be vacated

The World Heavyweight Championship was canceled on Monday after WWE Raw general manager Adam Pearce announced that Seth Rollins was injured in Australia.
Rollins came out on top in a champion-versus-champion match against Cody Rhodes for the Crown Jewel Championship at the Crown Jewel premium live event. On the following episode of “Monday Night Raw” after the event, Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed attacked Rollins.

Paul Heyman claimed that Rollins suffered a shoulder injury. Rollins’ return schedule was unclear, but multiple reports indicated he could return when the WrestleMania 42 season begins next year. He did not appear on “Monday Night Raw” to relinquish his title. Breakker handed him the strap.
Pearce announced that a battle royal would be held later in the night. Pearce said Vision members Breakker and Reed would not be allowed to compete in the match. The winner would face CM Punk for the vacant championship on the November 1 Saturday Night Main Event. Punk earned a title shot last week by winning a triple threat match against LA Knight and Jey Uso.

Uso and Knight were among those in the Battle Royal and they fought to the bitter end.
As Knight tripped Uso near the ropes on the announce side, Jey’s brother Jimmy arrived to keep him in the match. Later, Jimmy Uso was in trouble with Knight, and when Jimmy came to help his brother, Jey saw an opportunity.
Jey Uso eliminated his brother and Knight and was then saved from elimination by Dominik Mysterio. He closed the door on Mysterio’s hopes of a title shot and took the win, much to the chagrin of his twin brother.

Punk and Uso will fight for the vacant championship, but questions loom about the Usos’ relationship and whether The Vision will be lurking in competitors’ rearview mirrors in the days leading up to Saturday Night’s Main Event.
