what is group 7 on tiktok: What is ‘Group 7’ on TikTok? The viral trend taking over fill your pages explained and how you can be a part of it

If you’ve been scrolling through the social media platform lately, you’ve likely seen TikTok users posting videos and leaving comments about being in “group 7” without offering any further context about the secret club. So who founded the mysterious group and how can you get an invite?
What is Group 7 on TikTok?
The origins of the Group 7 trend on TikTok can be traced back to singer Sophia James. Last week, the music artist posted a series of videos on TikTok. In her first video, she shared that she recently received a parking ticket while dancing and singing her new song “So Unfair.”

James then continued to upload more clips with one goal in mind: to get as many TikTok users as possible to see his posts and fill their feeds to hear his song. By the fourth video, he started tagging the clips and the fans who came across them in groups.
The text on his fourth video read, “If you see this, you’re in group 4.” “I post a bunch of videos and see which ones get the most viewers. This is the group’s fourth post, so you’re group 4.”
As the night progressed, new videos started to arrive. The seventh and final video of the algorithm experiment went viral.
“If you’re watching this video, you’re in group 7,” James explained. “I posted seven videos tonight and this is the seventh. It’s just a little science experiment to see which type of video has the most reach.” He playfully added: “I don’t know what this says about you but you’re in group 7!”

Group 7 trend is taking over social media
On October 17, Sophia uploaded seven consecutive videos, each using her original song “So Unfair.” He was tired of some content being suppressed while others went viral, and called it a science experiment to see which video the algorithm would give a hard time to. The trend has now spread to the wider TikTok universe, with creators like Haley Kalil (@haleyybalee) and Chris Olsen joining in on the fun. (Of course they are in Group 7!)
Under his post, which reached 8.5 million views as of October 20, TikTok users celebrated and joked about being in the private group. “(I hereby) declare group 7 to be the most elite group,” one wrote in a comment. Another wrote: “Group 7 is the hot girl group where I don’t make the rules.” A third said: “I have a steak dinner right away with groups 1-6.”

James’ comment section wasn’t the only one flooded with references to “Group 7.” TikTok users began claiming to be members of the group, and even celebrities and brands, including Barbara Corcoran, Naomi Osaka, and the official account of the Kansas City Chiefs, joined in on the prank.
A TikTok creator also posted a video explaining how the prank spread. He praised James for cleverly getting millions of people to listen to and promote his new single. “This is incredible. I haven’t seen anything like this in a while. It’s also perfect marketing,” the TikTok user said.
He later pointed out that the song “So Unfair” was taking off on TikTok, and some wanted it to be the 7th group’s “anthem”. “Everyone is using his song and it’s the best marketing technique I’ve ever seen a musician use,” he praised. “I think we should all really know the name Sophia James.”
