A Hollywood star attended a party with King Charles’ bodyguards after a chance encounter near Balmoral Castle. Jimmy Fallon was enjoying a solo trip to Scotland when he unexpectedly encountered four armed Royal Guardsmen and ended up having dinner with them while wearing a kilt.

The American comedian and television host shared what happened on his Instagram story and said he had the “best dinner ever.” He also revealed two gifts the guards gave him to take with him to the United States.

The comedian is not believed to have met any royals during his time in and around Balmoral.

Explaining his experiences on Instagram, Fallon said: “I told my friend Eddie Burns in America that I was going to Scotland, and he said, ‘I’m Scottish! My great-grandfather is Scottish’… So I got the tie pin from the NYPD.”

“There’s the River Dee right next to Balmoral. I took the tie pin and threw it into the river. And I said, ‘There, Eddie, you’ll live on the River Dee forever.’ “I turned around to see four armed Royal Guards staring at me.”

She said the guards recognized her and invited her to dinner, which she attended wearing a skirt she borrowed from her hotel. He then went to the officers’ mess to spend the evening with the Balaklava Company of the 5th Battalion of the Royal Regiment.

She recalled: “I went to Victoria Barracks, which was the officer’s mess. They were so excited that I was wearing a skirt.”

He continued: “We had the best meal of our lives… Great speeches were made and they gave me this beautiful hat.”

In addition to the hat, she was also presented with a skirt made to order by regimental tailor Sergeant Cooper, and it was stated that she was “thankful” for this gesture.

Jimmy, who shared what happened on his Instagram account, said, “sometimes having no plan is the best plan.”

The Royal Regiment of Scotland commented on the comedian’s post and shared what a great time they had with him. They wrote: “It was a pleasure having you, Jimmy! Thank you for your kind words – we’ll be sure to keep our bagpipes tuned for your next visit!”
