Kneecap rapper won’t be charged after saying ‘kill your local MP’ | UK | News
After shouting at a London concert last year at a London concert, a member of Northern Ireland Rap Trio Kneecap will not be tried. The metropolitan police concluded that the decision had followed a “comprehensive investigation”, but ultimately any potential crime was “beyond the legal time limit for prosecution”.
Liam óg ó Hannaidh, known for his stage name Mo Chara, performed in November 2023, telling fans to “kill your local deputy” and inflammatory statements about conservative politicians. The images appeared to the public in April and were revised by the opposite terrorism command.
In a statement published on Sunday, Met said: “A series of criminal offenses were accepted as part of the investigation. However, considering the time between the events in the video and the video of the police, any potential summary was beyond the legal period only for prosecution.”
