Referring to the success of Operation Sindoor on Wednesday, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said that “Pakistan has not forgotten this pain” and that wars have become hybrid and asymmetrical. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Chief of Army Staff General Anil Chauhan made the remarks while attending the book launch of Lieutenant General Raj Shukla’s (Retd) book ‘Civil Military Fusion as a Measure of National Strength and Comprehensive Security’.

Rajnath Singh also highlighted the “bold and decisive” reforms undertaken in the Indian Army aimed at strengthening national security, including the creation of the post of Chief of Defense Staff. “…Wars are no longer fought just on borders, they are taking a hybrid and asymmetrical form…The traditional defense perspective is no longer valid…Our government has also undertaken many bold and decisive reforms to build future-ready and robust armed forces. These reforms ensure India’s national security as well as our strategic autonomy. One of these historic steps was the creation of the post of Chief of Army Staff…”

“We witnessed extraordinary unity and integration between the three armies during Operation Sindoor… Operation Sindoor did its job of tearing Pakistan apart and even today it has not forgotten that pain…”

The senior BJP leader also highlighted the growth in domestic defense production and how India is fast becoming a manufacturing hub for the defense sector. “One of my key takeaways from reading this book is that civil-military fusion should be seen not just as integration but as a strategic enabler… This process is now progressing rapidly in India… We have supported defense manufacturing and public-private partnerships. While promoting defense startups, we have also increased academia and industry partnerships. Today, we are rapidly emerging as a manufacturing hub for the defense sector… Indigenous defense production now totaling more than Rs. 1.5 Lakh Crore. Of this, the private sector contributes around Rs. 33,000 Crore. The government has already started to implement many of the recommendations made in this book…”
