Lucky Ali apologises after calling Javed Akhtar ‘ugly as f*ck’, says lyricist is ‘monster’ in fresh jab: ‘What I meant was…’

Lucky Ali slammed Javed Akhtar after a recently resurfaced clip of the songwriter showed him asking the Hindu community in the country not to be hard-liners like the Muslim community.

Lucky Ali criticized Javed Akhtar

Veteran artists Javed Akhtar and Lucky Ali had a falling out. Lucky Ali took to his X, formerly known as Twitter, and recently shared a post providing information about the legendary songwriter-screenwriter. The issue arose after a recently resurfaced clip of Javed Akhtar showed him asking the Hindu community in the country not to be hard-line like the Muslim community. Javed, who is known to be a non-believer, constantly speaks out about traditional practices that harm society, regardless of faith. However, his recent statements seem to have disturbed people from both religions.

In the old video that has gone viral, Javed can be heard saying, “In Sholay, there was a scene where Dharmendra hides behind Shiv ji’s murti and talks and Hema Malini thinks Shiv ji is talking to her. Is it possible that such a scene exists today? No, I will not write such a scene (today). Were there no Hindus in 1975 (when Sholay was released)? Were there no Dharmic people? There were. Actually I’m registered, I’m not just saying this here. Raju Hirani and I were in front of a huge audience in Pune and I said, ‘Don’t be like Muslims.’ Make them like you. ‘You become like a Muslim.’ It’s a tragedy.”

When the video was shared on “West Bengal Urdu Academy was right to withdraw its invitation to this shameless bigot masquerading as a wise man,” replied Lucky Ali, “Don’t be like Javed Akhtar, never be original and ugly like a fool.” After being trolled, Ali took his own timeline and dealt a fresh blow to Akhtar, posting: “My point is, arrogance is ugly… It was a wrong statement on my part. Monsters can have feelings too and I’m sorry if I hurt anyone’s monster.”
