A 21-year-old illegal immigrant from India who crossed the southern border in 2022 and was released by the Biden administration is now accused of causing a fiery semi-truck crash in Southern California that killed three people, multiple federal law enforcement sources said, according to Fox News.
The suspect, identified as Jashanpreet Singh, was first encountered by Border Patrol agents in California’s El Centro Sector in March 2022 and was released into the interior pending an immigration hearing, according to federal sources.
Singh was arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated after driving his big truck into slow-moving traffic on the I-10 Freeway in San Bernardino County.

DHS sources confirmed that he was not in lawful immigration status and that ICE detained an immigration officer following his arrest.
Singh was released under the Biden administration’s 2022 “alternatives to detention” policy; It’s one of several examples where Fox News has documented illegal immigrants who were released continuing to commit crimes while hearings were ongoing.

Transport Minister Sean Duffy’s statement on October 15 points to a common problem among large truck drivers: failure to meet English language requirements.
“I issued a warning to states this summer: Implement the Trump Administration’s English language requirements or the checks will be stopped,” Duffy said. “California is the only state in the nation that denies big truck drivers the ability to read our road signs and communicate with law enforcement. This is a fundamental safety issue on America’s roads that affects you and your family.”
