US Imposes Major Sanctions On Russia’s Top Oil Firms To End Ukraine War | World News

US President Donald Trump announced new sanctions against Russia’s two largest oil companies, Rosneft and Lukoil, in a bid to pressure Moscow to end the war in Ukraine. The decision comes after months of stalled diplomatic efforts and growing frustration with President Vladimir Putin’s actions.

“Today is a very big day,” President Trump said in a meeting with reporters at the White House. “Look, these are very big sanctions. These are very big. These are against two major oil companies… Hopefully the war will be resolved. We just answered questions about various types of missiles and everything else that we’re looking at. But we don’t think that’s going to be necessary. We want them to draw the line that’s been in place for quite a long time and go home.” he said. NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

Trump also stated that nearly 8 thousand soldiers were killed in the Russia-Ukraine war and called the conflict “ridiculous.” He reiterated that if he had been President, the war would never have started four years ago.
