Boy, 3, dies in foyer of police station after crash

A three-year-old boy died after being involved in a traffic accident with a 22-year-old woman outside the entrance to a police station in Brisbane’s south. Police are investigating a possible domestic violence incident involving a man leaving the scene.

Emergency services were called shortly before 5am to respond to a crash on Burnside Road, Ormeau, towards the M1 on the Northern Gold Coast.

Police said a witness to the crash assisted a 22-year-old woman and child in the vehicle and helped take them to Beenleigh Police Station.

“A short time later, the three-year-old boy became unresponsive in the foyer of Beenleigh Police Station as officers performed CPR, but he died,” police said in a statement.

Police said a 24-year-old Beenleigh man believed to be in the vehicle left the scene with another child before officers arrived.

“The man and a one-year-old boy were found by police at an address in Beenleigh at around 6.30am. The child was taken to hospital for treatment,” they said.

Police confirmed the man was assisting police and multiple crime scenes have been established as investigations continue. Police also said Beenleigh Station had reopened.
