Man Held for Molesting Australian Cricketer in Indore

Indore: Two Australian women cricketers participating in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup were followed and one of them was harassed by a man on a motorcycle in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore, police said on Saturday. Police on Friday arrested the person involved in the incident, which took place in the Khajrana Road area on Thursday morning, an official said.
Sub-Inspector Nidhi Raghuvanshi said the two cricketers left the hotel and walked towards a cafe when a man on a motorcycle started following them. He allegedly touched one of them inappropriately and rode away.
The duo contacted team security officer Danny Simmons, who coordinated with local security liaisons and sent a vehicle to assist.
Taking information, Deputy Commissioner of Police Himani Mishra interviewed the two actors, recorded their statements and registered a first information report under section 74 (use of criminal force to outrage the modesty of a woman) and 78 (stalking) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the MIG police station.
The official said that a person around recorded the motorcycle number of the suspect, based on which the accused Akil Khan was arrested. “Khan has previous criminal cases registered against him and an investigation into this case is ongoing,” he added.
