Vice President J.D. Vance visited Israel this week to show his support for the Gaza ceasefire amid concerns and allegations that the United States is dictating Israel’s decisions or that Israel is calling the shots in Washington. Associated Press.
He reassured the Israelis that the United States did not want Israel to be a ‘dependent state’, that is, a nation controlled by another nation, and instead emphasized that their relationship was a true partnership and alliance of equals.
Netanyahu, who met with Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Friday, echoed Vance’s remarks and dismissed claims that either country controls the other as “nonsense.”
‘One week they say Israel controls the USA. “A week later they say the US controls Israel,” he said.
‘This is nonsense. ‘We have a partnership, an alliance, consisting of partners who share common values and common goals.’
One of Israel’s concerns is that international security forces in Gaza could restrict the Israeli military’s ability to operate if it perceives a threat to its security, the AP reported.
