This is because it is believed that George will not have to follow the same path that other future Kings have previously followed, which tended to include a stint in the armed forces.

Even though this is the case and expectations for the future King have been relaxed, one royal expert believes George should still be in the army after leaving education.

Former royal butler Grant Harrold, who worked for King Charles when he was Prince of Wales between 2004 and 2011, said this was because the armed forces were “a huge part of the Royal Family”.

He also said he thought even a small stint in the military might be good for the young prince after he drops out of education, which would probably include university.

To talk online learning platform Study DogMr Harrold said: “I think he (Prince George) will go to university. William has enjoyed university and the children seem to enjoy school and education. The question is whether he will join the armed forces.”

“It’s possible for him to become head of the Armed Forces and have little or no experience in the armed forces and learn it on the job. But it would be very strange if he stopped the tradition in the military.”

“Historically royals have been all about fighting and if that suddenly stopped it would be quite significant because that is such a big part of the Royal Family.

“We’ve always had royals join the military, even if only for a short period of time. So this must continue.”
