BBC slammed for failing to ‘throw spotlight’ on Sadiq Khan in furious ‘bias’ row | Politics | News

I find it surprising that Sadiq Khan, who has been Mayor of London for over nine years, has received so little attention from the media. Especially considering it has a budget of £21 billion and is responsible for the largest police force and fire service in the country, and of course the massive transport system, TfL.

For years, he has wallowed in the constant vomit dispensed by many media officials. “Look how wonderful I am” rings out for all of us to hear. We are constantly told that “every journey matters to the Mayor of London and TfL”; While most of us brush it off, those who know what’s going on are much less impressed.

Unfortunately, the only way the public can truly see what is going on is if all forms of media monitor and report properly.

I am relieved and grateful that the Express is reporting properly on groom/rape gangs in London.

That’s what decent journalists do. They take the whole story and dig deeper.

My question to Sadiq Khan went viral on social media in January, and many other videos have appeared since then.

I was determined that Sadiq Khan would let us know how many grooming gangs we have in London.

Those who saw the speech were appalled by his response to my questions.

Khan claimed he didn’t know what I meant by grooming/rape ring.

We’ve now got the Met to finally admit they’ve investigated 9,000 cases.

This is a shame. Why wasn’t the Mayor more proactive and transparent before?

Disappointingly, reports from some organizations such as the BBC did not shed any public light on the Mayor. They don’t even notice his reluctance to address the issue.

Some might say this is their normal bias. I won’t comment, but I sincerely hope they open their eyes and see that a Mayor with huge responsibilities and a budget to match should receive much more attention and scrutiny than the constant reporting of his supposedly successful projects, such as endless community events.

There are serious problems in London and all media outlets need to be held to account, not just a stubborn few.

Susan Hall is the leader of the Conservative group in the London Assembly and a former candidate for mayor of London.
