DMK and Congress sail together in the interest of nation, says T.N. CM Stalin

DMK president and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Monday (October 27, 2025) said that his friendship with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was shaped by the slogan that “the interest of the country is superior to individuals”.

He said that the understanding between the DMK and the Congress and their relationship shaped by ideology will safeguard India’s future and “there is no doubt about it”.

Mr. Stalin’s speech at the family wedding of former Congress MLA R. Chokkar strengthened the alliance between the DMK and the Congress ahead of Assembly elections next year, even as some Congress leaders demanded more seats and power sharing.

The Prime Minister said that though the DMK and the Congress had traveled on different paths in the past, they were now traveling together on a path dedicated to the interest of the nation, the development of Tamil Nadu and, above all, the unity of the nation.

Mr. Stalin said he could not find words to describe the love Mr. Gandhi showed him.

“When I address other leaders, I do not call them my brother. But I always call Rahul Gandhi my brother, because he always calls me brother, even when he talks to me on the phone. I cannot forget this love. I say this in such a way that our political friendship becomes stronger and becomes the voice of India. We expect the same feeling from all of you.”

Mr. Stalin also used the opportunity to recall the friendship between Mr. Chokkar and former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi and their interactions in the State Assembly. “I witnessed the speeches of the voters expressing their demands,” he said.
