AP Sets Up 558 Control Rooms to Aid Public During Montha

vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh government has equipped its machinery to deal with Cyclone Montha and set up 558 control rooms across the state to help people in sensitive areas.

These include a state level, 19 district, 54 divisions and 484 mandal/village level control rooms, all of which operate 24×7 to respond to emergencies. 16 satellite phones and 35 DMR sets were also distributed to the districts for effective communication.

A total of 2,194 relief camps were prepared across the state and special emphasis was given to ensure the safety of 3,465 pregnant and lactating women.

While 11 NDRF and 12 SDRF teams have been deployed in sensitive areas for relief and rescue operations, additional teams remain on standby at the state headquarters.

In NTR district, a Command and Control Center has been established at the Tahsildar Office (Phone: 9154970454), where officials from revenue, health, fire brigade, water resources, roads and buildings, agriculture and energy departments provide 24-hour service.

Meanwhile, flight operations from Vijayawada were also affected. Air India Express canceled its flight to Visakhapatnam on Monday and all scheduled services to Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Sharjah on Tuesday. Similarly, IndiGo canceled all flights after 10.35 am from Vijayawada except a service to Delhi on Tuesday.
