Schools in Kakinada, East Godavari, Konaseema, Eluru and West Godavari in Andhra Pradesh announced closure of schools, colleges and other educational institutions from October 27 to October 31. However, these dates vary depending on local conditions.
While Tamil Nadu faced heavy rains last week due to cyclonic conditions, schools in Tiruvallur district were closed today due to the threat of cyclonic storms. The district administration has announced that schools, anganwadi centers and colleges in Gajapati district will remain closed until October 30, 2025.

Speaking to the media, Pujari informed that the eight most affected districts of south Odisha, namely Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Kalahandi and Nabarangpur, have been placed in the Red Zone category.
India Meteorological Department said the landfall process of Severe Cyclonic Storm Montha has begun as the storm is likely to cross the Andhra Pradesh coast between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam around Kakinada in the next three to four hours. “Latest observations indicate that the Black Fall process has begun. The Black Fall process will continue for the next 3-4 hours,” IMD wrote in an X post.
