Nvidia’s $1B Nokia deal signals AI shift, market expert says

<span>STORY: Nvidia will buy a 2.9% stake in Nokia for $1 billion, the Finnish telecom equipment maker said Tuesday; Shares hit their highest level in nearly a decade after a deal focused on artificial intelligence and data centers.</span><span>The companies plan to collaborate on AI networking solutions and may integrate Nokia’s data center communications products with Nvidia’s AI infrastructure.</span><span>“Nokia has traditionally been telecom equipment, but they want to move from pure telecom to a more AI-driven infrastructure through data center and cloud networking, this is really an endorsement from Nvidia that Nokia can do this,” Diton said.</span><span>“Nvidia, on the other hand, is all about AI infrastructure and chips, and they want to be more involved on the other side of telecom, the network side, and ultimately bring AI-powered wireless networks to 5G and in the future to 6G,” he added.</span>
