Boy, 17, fighting for life in hospital

A 17-year-old boy is fighting for his life in a Melbourne hospital after being seriously injured ahead of a cricket match in the city’s east.

Emergency services were called to Wally Tew Reserve in Ferntree Gully at 4.45pm on Tuesday.

The young man was given first aid by the medical teams who arrived at the scene, and was then taken to the hospital for treatment.

“A young male was transported by road ambulance to Monash Medical Center Clayton in a critical condition,” an Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said.
