Suspect, 29, sought after assault in Toronto’s east end

A 29-year-old from Toronto is wanted for assault after an incident in the city’s east end.

Toronto Police said they responded to an assault call Monday in the Dawes Rd.-Park Vista area, where there was an “interaction” between the accused and the victim before the victim was assaulted “multiple times.”

Police said the accused allegedly threatened the victim with an edged weapon as well.

Chanell Christine Gamache is wanted for assault and two counts of assault with a weapon.

The suspect is 5-foot-5 with a heavy build and was last seen wearing a green jacket and grey pants and carrying a pink backpack.

WOMAN TARGET OF HATE-MOTIVATED ASSAULT

Hamilton Police are asking the public for help after a young woman was assaulted in the busy Meadowlands shopping area.

Police said the incident happened Saturday at about 9:30 p.m. in the Golf Links Rd.-Neville Dr. area of Ancaster, which features numerous restaurants and retail stores near Hwy. 403 and the Lincoln Alexander Parkway.

Police said a 20-year-old woman was approached by a vehicle and its occupants began uttering anti-Black slurs before assaulting her.

“The vehicle and occupants are unknown to the victim and this incident is being investigated as a hate crime,” Hamilton Police said in a statement without revealing the severity of the victim’s injuries.

Police said they are looking for a silver or bronze sedan and that one of the suspects is a light-skinned male with curly black or brown hair who was wearing a grey or white sweater.
