Microsoft hit with Azure, 365 outage ahead of quarterly earnings

Microsoft On Wednesday, hours before the company’s scheduled earnings release, Azure cloud and 365 services went down.
Users reported on social media that there were problems accessing their sites and services running on Microsoft products, and that the company’s website could not be accessed. The problems started around 11:40 a.m. ET, according to Downdetector based on user reports.
Microsoft acknowledged the issues with Azure and 365 support accounts in X.
“We’re investigating an issue affecting Azure Front Door services,” the Azure support account said. “Customers may experience intermittent request errors or delays. Updates will be provided shortly.”

The service outages come just over a week after larger rivals Amazon Web Services reported a major outage that caused several major websites to go down. AWS said that during the day of October 20, customers observed “increased error rates” when trying to launch new instances on EC2, its popular cloud service that provides virtual server capacity.
Microsoft is set to report its first-quarter financial results after the close of trading. The company did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
In March, Microsoft experienced an outage over a weekend that left tens of thousands of users unable to access their Outlook email accounts and other programs.
