Rahul Gandhi Will Face Consequences in Bihar Polls for Modi Remarks: Amit Shah

Patna: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday said Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will “pay the price” for his recent remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi and insulting ‘Chhathi Maiya’ and his devotees.
Reacting to Gandhi’s comment that Prime Minister Modi would “even dance” for votes, Shah said in an interview with News18 Network, “Rahul Gandhi will have to pay the price for this in the elections. Rahul spoke derogatorily about Modi and insulted his mother, but every time he did this, the lotus blossomed from the mud of low standards.”
According to the channel’s statement, Shah said, “Rahul Gandhi did not insult Modi, but he did insult Chhathi Maiya and his devotees. He will bear the negative consequences of this in the Bihar elections. I am fully confident that Bihar voters will not forget the insult made to Chhathi Maiya and Modi ji.” he said.
Amit Shah’s remarks came after Gandhi, in his speech at a public rally, claimed that the Prime Minister could “do anything, even dance on stage” to get votes.
The comments sparked a sharp political exchange ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections; While the BJP has accused the Congress leader of humiliating the voters, the Opposition continues to target the ruling party over unemployment and governance problems in the state.
Shah also cleared the air on who would be the chief minister if the NDA comes back to power in Bihar.
Giving a huge vote of confidence to the incumbent chief minister, he said there was no confusion about the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) heading to the polls under Nitish Kumar’s leadership.
“There is no vacancy for CM in Bihar; there is no confusion here. I just said that we are fighting the elections under the leadership of Nitish Kumar,” Shah said.
He said the NDA will get a two-third majority in Bihar.
When asked who would be the chief minister if the NDA comes to power again, Shah took a harsh look at “dynastic” politics within the Mahagathbandhan and said he wanted Tejashwi Yadav, son of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, to be the CM of Bihar; Congress leader Sonia Gandhi wants her son Rahul Gandhi to become Prime Minister.
“Lalu ji wants his son to become CM and according to Sonia ji, his son should become PM. I want to tell both of them that there is no vacancy in Bihar or Delhi; there is Modi ji in Delhi and Nitish Kumar ji in Bihar,” he said.
The Union minister’s remarks came a day after opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav attacked the NDA, saying Nitish Kumar was a “puppet” in the ruling alliance and would not make him the Chief Minister if the BJP returned to power.
