Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who joined the 2025 Bihar Election campaign after a long gap of 57 days, seems to have touched the jugular vein of the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Addressing an election rally in the presence of Mahagathbandhan leader and chief ministerial face Tejaswi Yadav, the opposition leader questioned PM Modi’s intentions and termed it as a vote-getting drama. Even though the ruling BJP hit back at him, the crowd applauded Rahul wildly when he claimed that the masses were left to celebrate Chhath Puja in the filthy and polluted Yamuna River in Delhi and a pond filled with mineral water was created for the prime minister. People applauded and cheered the Congress leader. Rahul took a photo of PM Modi and called his devotion a ‘drama’ to garner votes, a day after the festival.
Rahul Gandhi Modi Chhath Puja
Terming Modi’s plan to take a dip in the Yamuna River for Chhath Puja as a “drama”, the Congress leader claimed that special arrangements have been made for the prime minister as the river is highly polluted. Rahul claimed that anyone who drinks Yamuna water will “get sick or die”. He added, “You must have seen the drama on television where Modi was about to take a dip in the Yamuna for Chhath Puja. It was shelved when it was revealed that the river was so polluted that a waterhole had been created with clean, piped water.” Rahul Gandhi was even more sarcastic and said: “At a poll rally, try telling him, Mr Prime Minister, that we will vote for you if you dance. He will gladly give voice to Bharat Natyam.”
Rahul Gandhi attacked PM Modi
Earlier, the BJP and its sympathizers had criticized Rahul Gandhi for his long absence from the Bihar election campaign trail and went as far as issuing a notification of his whereabouts using his AI-generated image. The Congress was last seen in Bihar on September 1 with the conclusion of the Voter Adhikar Yatra. When Rahul Gandhi came back, he came back with a vengeance and hit the ‘jugular vein’ of the saffron party. Terming the latest move as ‘drama’, he attacked the party’s image as a proactive Hindutva party and savior of the Hindu religion. Prime Minister Modi was proven right when he abandoned his plan to take a holy dip in the pond created on the banks of the Yamuna River.
Congress vs BJP Bihar
It is clear from its reaction that the Congress is upset with Rahul Gandhi’s attack. Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan wrote in a post on social media platform “Rahul Gandhi made these statements due to his feudal mentality, political disappointment and fear of defeat.”
Union Minister Giriraj Singh, MP from Bihar, slammed the Congress: “Rahul Gandhi and the Congress insulted Sanatan by making obscene comments on Chhath Puja. This is an insult to Sanatan and Hindus. People of Bihar will give them a befitting response.” In what could be termed as a personal attack and hitting below the belt, he said, “Rahul Gandhi has a habit of dancing in his family.” Many leaders of the BJP had earlier called Sonia Gandhi a bar girl.
