Interest rate cuts won’t come soon. Who’s to blame? Yes, politicians

After yesterday’s rate cut, Australians won’t be able to make another rate cut anytime soon September quarter CPI dataThis showed a massive 1.3% rise in headline CPI in the three months to September (almost double the 0.7% rise in the June quarter and the highest rise in 30 months), pushing inflation to 3.2% over the 12-month period, outside the Reserve Bank’s 2-3% target range and the highest annual rate in 15 months.

The underlying measure of adjusted average inflation also increased by 1% to 3% annually.
