4.32 L Cusecs of Krishna Water Gets Released Into Sea From Prakasam Barrage

vijayawada:Water resource officials released around 4.32 lakh cusecs of Krishna river water from Prakasam Dam into the sea at 8 pm on Friday and the initial flood warning is still in force.

Officials say water flow from upstream projects such as the 57,000 cusec Pulichintala and the 93,000 cusec Nagarjunasagar has gradually decreased, while the water level in the Prakasam Dam has decreased, providing relief to people living mostly in low-lying areas along the riverbed.

Officials expect the amount of water from the dam to drop to around two lakh cusecs by Saturday morning.

However, with the initial flood warning at the dam in effect, high alert remains both upstream and downstream of the dam. The second flood warning at the dam was withdrawn at 12.30 on Friday.
