Telangana HC Summons HYDRAA Chief In Bathukammakunta Contempt Case

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court has summoned HYDRAA commissioner AV Ranganath to appear on November 27 in a contempt case filed alleging violation of its earlier orders regarding Bathukammakunta in Bagh Amberpet.
The Supreme Court, in its judgment dated June 12, decided to continue the earlier interim order allowing HYDRAA to carry out pre-monsoon works on the lake, after recording the agency’s representations in court that it would not encroach on the property in dispute. A coordinate bench on May 7 had ordered the status quo on the suit schedule feature, which was later modified on May 28 to allow for limited flood mitigation activities.
However, a contempt case was filed in the Supreme Court by BRS leader A. Sudhakar Reddy, who claimed rights over the land due to extensive changes made to the lake. The developer HYDRAA has been sold by private contractors Vimos Technocrats Pvt. He laid the inauguration plaque of Bathukammakunta depicting him with. Ltd. and NPR Infratech are involved in the project.
The division bench comprising Justice Moushumi Bhattacharya and Justice BR Madhusudhan Rao found that this was a clear case of defamation and thought it appropriate to summon the HYDRAA commissioner.
