Two teenagers charged after man slashed in machete attack in Belgrave

A criminal complaint has been filed against two teenagers, one of whom is 13, after a man was injured in a machete attack in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs.
A man and a woman were walking along Blacksmiths’ Lane in Belgrave at around 7.10pm on Wednesday, October 29, when they came across a group of men.
A 27-year-old Ferntree Gully man was slashed with a machete during the incident before the attackers fled in a white BMW sedan.
The injured, whose life was not in danger, was taken to the hospital.
Police allege the group of men used the BMW to steal petrol from a service station on the Western Highway in Ballan earlier that day.

On Friday police arrested a 15-year-old boy and a 13-year-old boy from the Moorabool area and they were both charged with wounding with intent, recklessly causing injury, assault with a weapon and theft of a motor vehicle.

They were arrested and are expected to appear in juvenile court on Saturday.
Police have not yet identified a third suspect.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
