NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!
stand-up comedian Becky RobinsonThanks to a wig, a golf outfit from her mother’s closet, and what she calls a “manic episode of improvisation” that she filmed and shared on social media during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, her career is really taking off.
In October, Robinson spoke with Fox News Digital about her new special, “Entitled,” and the inspiration behind her viral comedy character, “Entitled Housewife.” A no-holds-barred, profane parody of wine mom and country club culture. The character gained a lot of attention on social media during the pandemic and helped Robinson build a fan base.
“I first came up with the character just by improvising, like my parents had left home and I was like, ‘Scott, where’s Sauvy B?’ I thought. “I started yelling at this fake husband like how my mother would treat my father if she was upset,” she told Fox News.

One of Robinson’s first “Housewife in Charge” videosPosted on YouTube in 2020, it shows the character trying and failing to pull his SUV out of the driveway and attend a “country club brunch.”
Wearing a giant golf visor, oversized sunglasses and AirPods, he yells at his imaginary son, Dashiell, to move his toy car.
“Dashiell, move your damn car! I’m already 15 minutes late for country club brunch! I have no time for this.” He gets out anyway, the sound of the carriage creaking under the weight of the car can be heard in the background.
“Wow, this is your loss. You could have moved it a little faster, okay? Mommy’s got things to do.”
From the first video, Robinson had developed a fictional family for the “Housewives” to yell at.
“And so that first day, I started yelling at Scott, and kids like Dashiell and Maccabee, and my best friend Trish, and her two other friends, Jackie and Margo, who were like her golf quartet,” Robinson said. “His universe was built, so to speak, in a manic episode of improvisation.”
When asked where the inspiration for the character came from, Robinson pointed to his parents and the many disruptions experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I grew up outside of Portland, Oregon, and I went home during the pandemic. I was with my family, and they looked like they were having the time of their lives. My dad said, ‘Golf is all we have. This is great. This is great. The country club is still open.’ And my mother had many health problems. She had a brain tumor and breast cancer. And so, he was finally healthy when the epidemic occurred. And he said: ‘This time I need to go out and do White Claws with the girls.'”
“So I sat there and watched them. I was like, ‘Oh my God, you guys are out of your minds,'” he continued. “And so I put on a wig and went into their closet and found a pair of shorts, a polo, a visor, and my dad’s Oakleys and, of course, his AirPods. And I started improvising.”

The comic told Fox News Digital that she wasn’t thinking about what “Entitled Housewife” could do for her career, she just wanted to make herself laugh during the bad times of the pandemic.
“And that was the first time I laughed in a long time. I mean, it was like making someone else laugh, too. And I posted the first video and it just took off. I had no idea. I thought it was going to be just like everything else.”
Robinson recalled that the video even caught the attention of A-list celebrities.
“All these celebrities started messaging me. Chris Pratt said: ‘If you’re going to make a movie with this, I have to play your husband.’ Some of the women I’ve looked up to for years, like Wendy McClendon Covey, said: ‘Yes, if you’re making a movie, I’m in.’ “It opened so many doors and I met so many amazing women.”
Hundreds of videos and millions of views later, the “Entitled Housewife” has become a household name and headliner on Robinson’s ongoing “Members Only” tour. The special, filmed at the tour’s Boston stop in April, is split into two parts: one featuring Robinson himself, the other featuring the character.
“Half of me is doing stand-up as myself,” Robinson said while describing the first half of the set. She said the first part was about “just making fun of things in everyday life like, ‘Oh, that’s not quite true'” and making jokes about being a “modern-day woman”.
Describing the second act, he said: “Then the ‘Entitled Housewife’ character comes to the theater – she’s late, as usual – she breaks down the door, gets on stage and gives this epic, big performance. At this point the special turns into what feels like a big party.”
“We’re trying to get people to ruin a few pairs of pants, hopefully,” Robinson added.
Aside from his onstage antics (including what appeared to be dance numbers), he also made an impact on the audience. Many of the women arrived wearing visors, sunglasses and tennis shorts as a nod to the character.
“Yes, we have a cult following,” Robinson said, thanking his die-hard fans.
Recalling when fans first started showing up in costumes, he said: “Yes, the first show on the tour, kind of at the tail end of the pandemic, our first show, they walked in, they just had visors; everyone came to us. People brought racquets and bats and they loved pickleball racquets. And yes, everyone was dressing up from the beginning.”

Robinson’s connection with her female fans is so important that she’s hosting her first annual golf tournament in Tulum, Mexico, this month — the “Entitled Housewife Classic.”
“We found this epic course – the PGA Riviera Maya in Tulum – and the Conrad Hotel right across the street,” Robinson said. “I host more than 100 people over the weekend and there are a lot of brands among us.”
“I want to spend a whole weekend with them,” he said of the fans. “One night isn’t enough. Like let’s make it a whole week. So while we’re there, I’ll do a show. And two days is kind of like a golf tournament.”
He said the tournament is open to the first 100 fans who purchase tickets and includes many extra benefits.
“I also hired male Chippendales as drink cart drivers because you don’t see that in the game of golf. No, women are always very attractive, so I thought, ‘Let’s get some.'”
