MLB World Series: LA Dodgers beat Toronto Blue Jays for back-to-back titles

The Los Angeles Dodgers became the first team in the last 25 years to win back-to-back World Series titles, defeating the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 in extra innings in the seventh game.

Catcher Will Smith’s home run in the top of the 11th inning broke the deadlock at Toronto’s Rogers Center, and Alejandro Kirk’s groundout into a double play with the tying run at third base sparked wild celebrations.

The National League champions trailed 3-0 on a three-run homer by Bo Bichette in the third inning but continued to inch forward, and solo hits by Max Muncy and Miguel Rojas tied the score at 4-4 in the ninth.

The last team to win consecutive ‘Fall Classics’ was the New York Yankees, who won in 1998, 1999 and 2000.
