Mamdani’s socialist allies embrace video accusing them of trying to hijack Dem Party

After an anti-Semitism watchdog issued a new video warning of socialist efforts to take over the Democratic Party from within, socialist leaders across the country embraced the video and its message, appearing unafraid of such accusations.

Canary Mission’s ad featured recorded remarks from various leaders of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) expressing their opposition and, in some cases, “hatred” of the Democratic Party, with one speaker saying it should be destroyed. The video also shared DSA leaders’ remarks about how the Democratic Party, which one of the socialist speakers in the video described as “toxic”, could be used as a “tool” to further their goal of destroying the current capitalist society we live in.

At the center of the ad was what Canary Mission calls the “cuckoo analogy.”

The video’s narrator explains: “In nature, the cuckoo survives through deception. It lays its egg in another bird’s nest. Unsuspecting parents raise the impostor as their own until the cuckoo grows strong enough to expel the real chicks.” “DSA is the cuckoo in the Democratic Party.”

However, the analogy pointing to candidates such as self-declared socialist Zohran Mamdani does not seem to disturb the socialists it targets. Rather, they applauded the video ad as a great recruiting tool that will get more people to join their ranks.

“The new DSA recruitment advert for Communists has just been removed,” Nicolás Vargas joked in response to the video. Vargas is affiliated with DSA’s Central Brooklyn chapter, per the 2022 DSA national convention resolution regarding COVID protections.

“Are you trying to make young people think DSA is cooler?” quipped Marxist-socialist blogger C. Derrick Varn.

“New hiring is open,” joked Giovanetta Carpenter, co-chair of the New York City Young Democratic Socialists of America.

Other socialist activists were a little more direct in their views that the Democratic Party should be eliminated.

“My biggest gripe is the idea that we are deceptive,” Allan Frasheri, the at-large delegate to the 2023 DSA Convention and co-chair of the University of Florida’s DSA chapter, said in response to the video. “DSA is loud and proud: We are fighting for a workers’ party. A party composed only of working people can create a better world by and for them. The Democratic Party is, after all, the party of billionaires.”

“This is the best DSA ad I’ve ever seen,” added DSA organizer Miko Ludoviko. “DSA is an anti-capitalist organization whose long-term goal is to seize state power. The Democratic Party is a tool we use for local elections, but it remains the enemy of the working class.”

Part of Canary Mission’s video focused on Mamdani from New York City, who is running for mayor of New York City with the Democratic Party. He beat out former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo in the Democratic primary earlier this year to become the party’s nominee. Cuomo is currently running as an Independent.

Mamdani, a member of DSA’s NYC chapter, led scores of DSA members onstage at the “New York Not for Sale” rally earlier this week. He was also the keynote speaker at the group’s 2023 national convention while serving as a New York state representative.

DSA admitted to working closely with Mamdani’s campaign, including holding regular meetings with her team.

At a DSA panel in August, Goulden pointed out that the campaign and the organization were very close, saying, “We’re basically in the best position possible to seize state power with Zohran because, you know, that’s who we are.” he said. “One of the things that has made Zohran really successful at implementing policy is his particular reliance on DSA,” Goulden continued.“

“We wrote the platform with him. The team was very happy to work with us on this,” he explained. “What we obviously wanted to do was use the power of New York City to provide free gender-affirming care — and I say free in case the insurance companies decide to kick us out — free gender-affirming care not just to people in New York City, but to people across the country.”

In addition to the responses to Canary Mission’s new video, other messaging materials the pro-Israel group posted, such as a graphic harshly criticizing socialists who seek to “weaken and ultimately dismantle” the United States, were similarly praised by DSA socialists.

For example, in response to a Canary Mission graphic exposing the DSA’s Red Star Faction’s goal of “weakening and ultimately dismantling the US empire,” a user on

“I will use every tool at my disposal to make this happen,” they added.

“That’s true,” said another X user, who goes by the moniker “Centre-Marxist,” in response to a second graphic criticizing DSA’s Marxist Unity Group for its stated goals. “We must erode the political, cultural and physical hegemony of the US police state with every tool at our disposal.”

Fox News Digital reached out to DSA for comment but did not receive a response.
