What is a supermoon?

Since the Moon’s orbit is not a perfect circle, its distance from the Earth varies throughout the year. A full moon is classified as a supermoon when it falls at or within 90% of perigee.
A supermoon can appear up to 14% larger and 30% brighter than other full moons, making it a particularly striking sight in the night sky.
Why is it called a beaver moon?
As mentioned earlier, this lunar event is also known as the frost or freeze moon due to the temperatures that occur frequently, but it is also known as the beaver moon.
According to the Royal Greenwich Museum, there is disagreement about the origin of the name of November’s beaver bear. Some say it comes from Native Americans setting beaver traps during this month, while others say the name comes from the intense activity of beavers building their winter dams.
