Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office announced Sunday that Israel, through the Red Cross, had confirmed that it had received the remains of three Israeli hostages from Hamas and that they were rescued by IDF and Shin Bet forces in the Gaza Strip.
The announcement stated that the bodies would be transferred to Israel and honored there with a military ceremony led by the Chief Military Rabbi.
The bodies will then be taken to the Ministry of Health’s National Forensic Medicine Center for identification. The statement stated that an official notification will be made to the families after the process is completed.
All families of the dead hostages were informed, and the government expressed its deep condolences in a statement saying its “hearts are with them at this difficult time.”
The official statement also confirmed Israel’s determination to bring all hostages home, declaring that efforts “will continue relentlessly and will not stop until the last hostage is brought home.”
The Israeli public was also called on to respect the privacy of families and avoid the dissemination of unverified information, with updates provided only from official sources.
