Horror as dad jumps off 14-storey Disney cruise ship to save child | World | News

After a father dived into the ocean from the fourth deck, he jumped from a Disney cruise ship to save his young daughter and triggered panic and horror among passengers. The terrible incident took place in Disney Dream after the Sunday afternoon, as Florida returned to Fort Lauderdale after a four -day journey around the Bahamas.

Witnesses said that her father’s father had fallen after lifting her near a railing to take pictures. He ran after him without hesitation. Passenger Laura Amador said to CBS News: “The ship was moving quickly – so fast that people have become frenzy at sea. Then you missed them.”

A human overboard was warned on the loudspeakers of the ship, and the captain immediately slowed down the ship and reversed. The crew members used a rescue boat and the couple withdrew from the water after about 10 minutes.

The images shared on social media show the relieved passengers who cheered as the girl and her father safely brought back.

Passenger Gar Fondz told NBC News: “We watched, you could see two small things … It was crazy, it was terrible.”

Passenger Kevin Furuta wrote on a Facebook post: “Fortunately, the Disney Cruise Line Rescue team was immediately above and both were rescued!”

Disney said in a statement: “We praise our crew members for their extraordinary skills and quick actions, which provided both guests to return to the ship in a few minutes.”

Disney Dream, which has 14 decks and 4,000 passengers, continued to Florida as planned.

US Coast Guard did not comment.

Passenger ship drops are rare and rarely saves. The 2019 Industrial Report said that only nine people who fell into the sea that year were rescued.
