Three men gangrape class 7 girl near Kolkata; arrested, POCSO case filed

Three youths were arrested on charges of sexually assaulting a girl in the Dum Dum area near the city, a senior police officer said on Sunday (November 2, 2025).

The officer said the incident took place on Saturday evening when the 7th grade student was returning from classes.

According to the officer’s statement, one of the defendants took him to a park where two other men joined him.

The police officer who relayed the girl’s complaint said that the girl was forcibly taken by electric rickshaw to a remote slum where she was sexually assaulted.

Although the three defendants later allowed him to leave, they threatened him not to reveal anything.

The police officer added that the girl was sent for medical examination to find out the nature of the attack and whether one or more people were involved.

The three were arrested on Saturday night and a case was registered against them under the POCSO Act.

On Sunday, BJP activists demonstrated in front of Dum Dum police station, demanding strict punishment of the perpetrators.
