Deva Priyakumar Appointed as Dean of RnD at IIIT Hyderabad

Chennai: International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad (IIIT Hyderabad), Prof. who held this position for two consecutive terms. CV Jawahar was replaced by Prof. U. Deva announced the appointment of Priyakumar as Dean of Research and Development.

Prof. Deva Priyakumar is Professor and Founding Project Director of IHub-Data, a technology innovation hub at IIIT Hyderabad. Until recently, he also served as Head of the Center for Computational Natural Sciences and Bioinformatics (CCNSB). His research covers artificial intelligence applications in Chemistry and Biology, computer-aided drug design, and artificial intelligence for healthcare.

Prof. has more than 150 publications in well-known international journals. Priyakumar’s research has earned him many prestigious awards, including the Chemical Research Society of India Medal, the Indian National Academy of Science Medal, the Innovative Young Biotechnologist Award, and the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science Invitational Scholarship.

IIIT Hyderabad Director Prof. Congratulating him on his appointment, Sandeep K. Shukla said, “Prof. Deva Priyakumar’s leadership and research excellence have been instrumental in shaping IIIT Hyderabad’s interdisciplinary research culture. His deep commitment and vision to both basic and translational research make him the ideal choice to lead our R&D efforts into the next phase of innovation and societal impact.”

Accepting his new position, Prof. Deva Priyakumar said, “IIIT Hyderabad is known for its excellence in research and innovation, with collaborations between research groups from industry and government institutions. I am honored to be given the responsibility of leading the institute’s research efforts from the front. I look forward to working towards our broader vision of expanding research capacity, taking initiatives to solve real-life problems, and intensifying research translation.”
