19-year-old charged in El Paso TSA officer’s death

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A 19-year-old woman was arrested after striking and killing a bicyclist in Downtown El Paso earlier this year, according to El Paso Police.

Police said Vivian Padilla was arrested on Monday, Nov. 3, and charged with collision resulting in death after she attacked and killed 52-year-old David Carmine O’Connor in September.

Police determine that hit-and-run cyclist died

As KTSM 9 News previously reported, the crash happened just before 2 a.m. on Sept. 7 in the 4600 block of Pershing Dr.

Police said O’Connor was shot in the back and fell off his bike, and Padilla did not stop to help.

O’Connor died at the scene, police said.

The Transportation Security Administration confirmed that O’Connor had been a transportation security officer at El Paso International Airport since 2002.

Padilla was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility in lieu of $50,000 bail.
