Director of Kim Kardashian show All’s Fair responds to scathing reviews: ‘Hopefully opinions will change’ | US television
One of the directors of the critically panned legal drama All’s Fair has responded to negative reviews by saying “not everything is for everyone.”
Anthony Hemingway, who directed and executive produced four episodes of the series, was asked in an interview about his thoughts on the extremely poor reviews. Hollywood Reporter.

“You won’t please everyone,” Hemingway said. “You may have some criticisms, while there are millions of people who love it… It may not be for you, that’s okay, but I personally enjoy the show. For my part, I had a lot of fun with it. Not everything is for everyone, and at the same time you can’t expect one person to define something and create the integrity of it for that – I disagree with that.”
Hemingway’s previous works include acclaimed hits such as True Blood, Shameless, ER, and The Wire, which he cited as an example in the interview.
“I also think sometimes things can take time,” he said. “I did The Wire. When the show came out, nobody liked it. They hated it. They didn’t watch it. Two people watched it every week. But it got to the point where it found a moment. I’m not comparing the show to The Wire – let’s be clear – but it’s an example of how people can react to something in one moment and then at another time it becomes something completely different. The show takes a minute to get going, but I feel like it’s definitely refreshing and creative. It’s satisfying.”
He also argued that the series was a “wish fulfillment” that should not be taken as seriously as other legal dramas. Hemingway believes that in a world that is “dark, heavy, and determined,” the show is “a way to connect with certain aspects of the human condition and humanity.”
He added: “I hope opinions change. But if they don’t, they won’t change. What we all do excites us and we stand behind it. Don’t approach it from such a critical or realistic perspective. It strikes a different tone and will develop over time; it will become more human.”
Kardashian, who previously starred in the American Horror Story series, was subjected to heavy criticism in the series, along with Angie Han from the Hollywood Reporter. explaining he described her performance as “stiff and emotionless, without a single note of originality”.
Hemingway also defended him, saying that he was “very open, willing, ready and able to do whatever was asked of him.”
