CPI(M) leader K.M. Joseph passes away

KM Joseph, 81, Senior Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] Its leader passed away here on Wednesday.
Mr. Joseph, a long-time leader of the Kerala Karshaka Sangham, had previously served as State vice-president and Kannur district secretary. He also served as party local secretary in Naduvil, Taliparamba and Sreekandapuram district committees and Naduvil grama panchayat member.
Mr Joseph was among those who faced police action during the Emergency when he attended the memorial event for Comrade Sukumaran at Kudiyanmala along with leaders like MV Govindan and EP Jayarajan. During this period, he was arrested and sent to prison.
In 2001, he joined CPI(M) district secretary from Alakode district. He also left a mark in the cooperative sector by serving as the chairman of Taliparamba Primary Cooperative Agriculture and Rural Development Bank and a member of the management council of the State Cooperative Agriculture and Rural Development Bank.
He is survived by his wife Thankamma, children Saju Joseph, Sani Sabu and Sinu Joseph.
The funeral will be held in Payyambalam on Friday.
