Andrew’s HRH style and prince title officially removed by King Charles | Andrew Mountbatten Windsor

King Charles has officially stripped his disgraced brother Andrew Mountbatten Windsor of his HRH style and title of prince.

The King officially implemented the changes announced a week ago by issuing a letters patent under the Great Seal of the Realm, published by the Royal Office in the Gazette, the United Kingdom’s official public record.

The entry published on Wednesday read: “The King is pleased with the letters patent declaring that, under the Great Seal of the Realm dated 3 November 2025, Andrew Mountbatten Windsor shall no longer be entitled to hold and use the style, title or qualification of ‘His Royal Highness’ and the nominal dignity of ‘Prince’.”

Mountbatten’s decision to remove Windsor from the monarchy and strip him of his birthright as a prince as well as his right to a dukedom comes in the wake of growing controversy over his links to child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Mountbatten Windsor brought the royal family into disrepute over his relationship with Epstein and was dogged for many years by allegations of sexual harassment following the kidnapping of Virginia Giuffre by the financier.

He denied the allegations.

Another record confirmed that Mountbatten Windsor had been stripped of the title of Duke of York from the roll of nobility, as previously announced.

The letter said: “The King is pleased to direct the Secretary of State to cause the Duke of York to be removed from the roll of nobility with immediate effect, under the Royal Signals Manual dated 30 October 2025.”
