Seattle: Man still on the run after allegedly biting Emma Cotton’s finger off, stealing ring

The man who allegedly bit off a woman’s finger during a violent robbery is still on the run from police.

Emma Cotton, 88, was cleaning the back porch of her home in Seattle’s Rainier Beach on Oct. 13 when the man “brutally attacked” her.

He allegedly approached her and asked her to hand over her jewellery.

When Ms Cotton refused, he “assaulted her repeatedly and then lured her into his garage where the attack continued”.

During the terrifying incident, he allegedly bit off one of Ms Cotton’s fingers to get her ring. 7KPLC reported.

Seattle police have since shared security footage showing the suspect carrying a backpack, wearing a dark-colored jacket and pants, and light-colored sneakers.

Almost a month after the incident, Ms Cotton is still recovering. When he was first admitted, he suffered multiple fractures and fractures and spent three days in intensive care due to bleeding in the brain.

He has since been moved to a rehab facility.

His three sons tried to raise awareness about the incident in the hope that police would catch the suspected attacker.

Ms Cotton’s son, identified only as Ricky, said: “She felt someone breathing behind her and as soon as she turned around he said he started punching her.” KING.

He also said doctors were unable to reattach Ms Cotton’s finger because the alleged attacker had taken the finger with him from the scene.

It comes after three prison inmates were arrested after prison officers found a child killer dead in his cell.

Police were called to HMP Wakefield prison in West Yorkshire at 8.25am on Wednesday morning following reports of the death of a prisoner.

The man has been identified as 33-year-old Kyle Bevan, who was jailed in 2020 for the murder of his partner’s two-year-old daughter, Lola James.

West Yorkshire police said Bevan’s death was being treated as “suspicious” and investigations were ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident.

Police said in a statement that three male inmates were arrested on suspicion of murder.

No further information was given about the incident or the identities of the prisoners.
