Pakistan star copies Hardik Pandya’s iconic celebration after winning Hong Kong Sixes 2025, gets trolled online

Pakistan star Muhammad Shahzad went viral after he copied Hardik Pandya’s iconic T20 World Cup celebration following his team’s Hong Kong Sixes 2025 win. This action sparked mixed reactions online; Many fans trolled him and called the move unnecessary and attention-seeking.

Pakistan won its historic sixth title by beating Kuwait by 43 runs in the final of the Hong Kong Sixes today. However, the celebrations were overshadowed by reactions on social media. All-rounder Mohammed Shahzad is facing serious backlash from fans after he openly imitated India star Hardik Pandya’s famous celebration pose in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 final.

Rushing onto the field after the win, Shahzad imitated Pandya’s iconic ‘putting his finger on his lips’ gesture while posing with the trophy in his hand, a move that quickly became a viral sensation during the World Cup final. The Pakistani player later posted a playful post on social media, seemingly alluding to a jab taken by India captain Dinesh Karthik following Pakistan’s group stage defeat to India.

However, this move did not resonate well with many in the online community. Indian fans were quick to criticize the action as “shameless”, with one widely shared comment saying: “Bhai kuch toh sharam karo, at least create your own celebration!” (Brother, be a little shy, at least create your own celebration!). Even some Pakistani fans expressed their disappointment, suggesting that the team should concentrate on creating its own memorable moments rather than imitating its opponent’s signature style.

With this victory, Pakistan secured their sixth title in the history of the Hong Kong Sixes, cementing their status as the most successful team in the history of the tournament. They lost only one match against India throughout the tournament. On the other hand, India also won only one match against Pakistan.

Team captain Abbas Afridi stood out as the best bowler and was named player of the tournament. The Pakistani team walked away with US$20,000 as reward for their victory in the competition.
