Police Target Goods Vehicles Ferrying People In Suryapet

Nalgonda: Suryapet police launched an operation against illegal transportation of passengers in goods vehicles and 70 cases were registered within a week.
In the special campaign carried out for a week starting from November 3, freight transport vehicles carrying people and workers were targeted on all routes in the district.
Superintendent of Police K. Narsimha stated that under the Transport Act, goods vehicles are designed only for transporting goods and using them to transport people, workers or children is a punishable offence. He warned that such practices pose a high risk of road accidents and urged the public to avoid traveling in goods vehicles as it could endanger lives.
He also warned that autorickshaws carrying passengers beyond the permissible limit were also violating the law. The SP added that vehicles repeatedly found to be carrying passengers illegally will be seized.
