Russia is “actively preparing” for President Vladimir Putin’s visit to India, expected before the end of the year, the Kremlin told state media TASS.
Speaking to state media TASS, Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said that Putin’s visit to India is planned before the end of 2025.
“We are currently actively preparing for Putin’s visit to India, which we have planned before the end of this year. We hope that the visit will be meaningful.” he said.

Responding to a question about a report published in local Indian media regarding the preparations of Russia and India to sign a labor mobility agreement to be signed at the summit in December, the Kremlin spokesman said: “… let’s not get ahead of ourselves. We will announce all the agreements planned to be reached in due course.”
Indian media report that the deal will lead to more Indian citizens expected to be officially employed in Russia over the years under quotas overseen by the Russian Ministry of Labor.
The upcoming visit will be Putin’s first since 2021. The two leaders met in person on the sidelines of the SCO Summit in Tianjin, China, on September 1 this year.
India and Russia signed a Strategic Partnership on October 3, 2000.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, US President Donald Trump said that trade talks with India were going well and reiterated his claim that India had reduced its oil imports from Russia.
He said he continues to prioritize strengthening relations with India and is in frequent contact with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Trump made this statement during the swearing-in ceremony of Indian Ambassador Sergio Gor. “We’re making a deal with India. It’s very different from what we did. They don’t like me now, but they’ll love me again. We’re making a fair deal. They’re very good negotiators, so Sergio, you’ll have to take a look at that. I think we’re pretty close to making a deal that’s good for everyone,” Trump said in his speech.
Trump said last week that he would visit India, perhaps as early as next year.
