Telangana releases ₹12.99 cr as immediate assistance to families hut by cyclone Montha

Telangana Government has released 12.99 billion rupees as emergency assistance to undertake the relief and rehabilitation of families affected by cyclone Montha, which caused extremely heavy rains in various parts of the state.
As many as 8,662 houses were damaged in 15 districts and Revenue Special Secretary Arvind Kumar said ₹15,000 each would be provided to the homeowners to initiate repair work. Cyclone Montha reported extremely heavy rains for four days from October 27 to 30 in many districts including Warangal, Hanamkonda, Vikarabad, Wanaparthy, Rangareddy, Karimnagar, Sircilla, Mahbubnagar, Siddipet and Nagarkurnool.
The government asked district Collectors to submit reports regarding damages on priority and the amount was released based on the reports submitted. The amounts will be transferred directly to the bank accounts of the affected families.
The government had announced special gift of ₹ 5 lakh per person (₹ 4 lakh from SDRF and ₹ 1 lakh from Government) to the next of kin of the families of those who died under the impact of heavy rains. Apart from this, a compensation of ₹ 50,000 each was announced for dairy animals that died due to the hurricane, and ₹ 5,000 for small animals such as goats and sheep.
District Collectors have been instructed to undertake restoration of roads/tanks/culverts and other structures, including PHC buildings, schools and anganwadi centres, in accordance with SDRF norms.
