A local resident who lives next to the cordon claimed knife crime was ‘very frequent’ in the area.

A local resident told the MEN he saw “a young lad on the ground”.

He said: “It started about an hour and a half ago. We knew it as soon as we heard the sirens coming and then we saw the young boy on the ground.

“Paramedics arrived, followed by advanced paramedics. He was taken to hospital.”

He added: “Knife crime is very common in the area. There was a similar incident a few weeks ago and just yesterday two teenagers were stabbed in Levenshulme.”
