Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced that 10 lakh rupees will be given to the families of those killed in a car explosion near the Red Fort in New Delhi on Monday evening, 5 lakh rupees each for permanently disabled individuals and 5 lakh rupees each for seriously injured individuals.
In his statement regarding X, CM Rekha Gupta said that the tragic incident that took place in Delhi “left the entire city in shock”. “At this difficult time, the Delhi Government extends its deepest condolences to all the families who lost their loved ones and to those injured in this incident,” he added in his message. He stressed that the Delhi government stands with every affected family and that “we have taken a compassionate decision to provide immediate assistance.” Delhi CM said, “Our government will take responsibility for proper and quality treatment of the injured. Peace and security in Delhi is our top priority.” he said. The Delhi CM said the administration is “working with full caution” and stands by all the affected individuals and their families.
Eight people were killed and many others injured when an explosion ripped through a slow-moving Hyundai i20 near Red Fort’s Subhash Marg traffic signal on Monday evening. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has asked the National Investigation Agency, which is probing the Delhi blast incident, to submit its investigation report as soon as possible, sources had said earlier. The NIA will officially take over the investigation from Delhi Police and will examine all aspects of the incident, including the materials used in the blast and possible terror links. The transfer of the case to the NIA demonstrates the Centre’s intention to ensure a thorough and coordinated investigation into the incident.
