Lone Star governor receives ‘complete and total’ endorsement from Trump

President Donald Trump issued a “Complete and Complete” endorsement to Lone Star State Governor Greg Abbott on Tuesday.

Republican Abbott launched his re-election campaign at an event in Houston on Sunday.

In a post published on Truth Social on Tuesday evening, Trump called Abbott “an extraordinary Governor and man” and said, “He will NEVER RACE YOU.”

“Greg Abbott is the strong and highly respected Governor of Texas, a state I love, and he WON BIG three times, including with 6.4 Million Votes in 2024 (Most Votes in History by FAR)!” Trump wrote.

He credited Abbott’s leadership with the successful passage of Texas’ mid-decade redistricting bill, which had the potential to give Republicans an additional five congressional seats in the 2026 Midterm Elections.

Trump said, “Thanks to Greg’s courageous and effective Leadership, the great people of Texas will have the opportunity to elect 5 new MAGA Republicans in the 2026 Midterm Elections with the passage of new, fair, and much improved Congressional Maps – A HUGE WIN for Republicans in the Lone Star State and Nationwide!” he wrote.

The President went on to praise many of Abbott’s priorities, saying, “As Governor, Greg will also be committed to Promoting Texas Values, Growing the Economy, Cutting Taxes and Regulations, Supporting Our Great Farmers and Ranchers, Delivering Made in the USA Improvements, Unleashing American Energy Domination, Promoting School Choice, Protecting Our Now Very Secure Border, STAYING SAFE, Bringing Immigrant Crimes, Murderers, and Other Criminals to Our Country.” Stop Their Illegal Entry, Enforce AND ORDER THE LAW, Protect Our Brave Military, Veterans, and Law Enforcement, and Defend the Second Amendment, which is always under siege.”

“I have my Total and Complete Consent to the Re-Election of Greg Abbott,” he concluded.

Abbott responded to the approval by calling it an “honor.”

“Together we have worked to secure our border and defend the values ​​that keep Texas strong. President Trump has always been a defender of Texas,” Abbott wrote, adding: “I look forward to our continued work to build a stronger, safer, more prosperous Texas and America.”

Abbott appears to be seeking a fourth term in the Lone Star State. At his campaign launch on Sunday, Abbott outlined a comprehensive property tax reform plan that addresses what has become one of the state’s most pressing and pressing issues.

“It’s time to drive a stake through the heart of local property tax increases once and for all,” said Abbott. “We will turn the tables on local taxing authorities, give power to the people, and end out-of-control property taxes in Texas.”

Despite much speculation in recent years that Texas would turn purple or even blue, Abbott won each of the previous three elections by decisive margins. In 2022, the once-rising star defeated former Rep. Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke by more than ten percentage points.

In an interview with Fox News Digital in October, Abbott, whose National Guard troops have been deployed to support Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations in Chicago, explained the “important reason” he has such a good working relationship with the president: “We both believe in the rule of law.”

“President Trump and I have a good, long-standing working relationship, and there’s an important reason behind that. We both believe in the rule of law. We both believe in public safety. We both believe in the security of the border,” he explained.

Abbott said he and President Donald Trump are “working very closely together to ensure our country is safe.”

Abbott emphasized that the Trump administration has a shared vision with Texas and that vision makes them suitable partners.

“What Texas is trying to do is the same thing that the United States is trying to do. That is, very simply, to carry out the functions of the federal government. One of them is immigration enforcement, the other is public safety. Texas National Guard [is] I’m not there to police the city of Chicago or anywhere else. “They are there to ensure the safety and security of federal officials’ ability to fulfill their constitutional duty to enforce the laws of the United States.”

While he didn’t give any hints about what other collaborations Texas might have with the Trump administration in the future, he said Texas is ready for whatever is needed.

“No one can predict exactly what will happen in the future. I can predict how Texas will respond. So, when the country is in need, Texans will step in and help in any way we can.”
