Lorry driver who claimed coughing caused crash caught out by audio | News

The claim that a truck driver crossed to the wrong side of the road due to a coughing fit and crashed into another heavy vehicle was revealed due to the sound of the dashcam.
Images from the BBC series Accident Detectives Mariusz Korkosz’s vehicle appears to have collided with a lorry driven by Gary Rees, who later died, in Caerphilly.
Korkosz claimed he coughed violently, causing him to “pass out” and become disoriented. Dashcam audio, which Korkosz didn’t realize he was recording, only recorded him swearing before the crash.
He was sentenced to 20 weeks in prison following the collision in July 2022.
